Explore Pismo Beach, California
Pismo Beach is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California. It lies on a scenic stretch of US 101 that extends from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles.
The "Clam Festival" is held every October, complete with clam chowder competitions and a clam-themed parade. When you enter Pismo Beach, you'll see a gigantic concrete clam statue. Decades of unrestricted clamming and the appetites of sea otters have depleted the supply, resulting in strict limits.
Pismo Beach hosts one of the largest gatherings of custom and classical cars on the 3rd full weekend in June.
Popular beach activities include horseback riding and ATV riding on the dunes. Pismo State Beach has a dune area where off-highway vehicles are allowed. Vehicles are prohibited in Prismo Dunes Preserve.
